Marsha Downing Hart Jones, wife of George Andrew Jones, passed away on February 11, 2019 in Maysville, Ky.  She was born October 31, 1949, in Lexington, Ky., and was the daughter of the late Marshall and Marguerite Hart of Flemingsburg, Ky.    Marsha graduated from Fleming County High School, Flemingsburg, in 1967 and from Transylvania University, Lexington, in 1971 with a degree in Elementary Education.

In 1973 Marsha married her beloved husband, Lt. George Andrew Jones, of Gainesville, Florida.  Jones was a career Army officer, and they spent the next 20 years moving to new assignments in 6 states and 2 foreign countries along with their two sons.  Jones retired from the US Army in 1992 as a Lt. Colonel.  Marsha loved the military life and touring many countries in Europe and the Mediterranean.

Marsha taught second grade at Ft. Knox, Ky. from 1972 thru 1974 and first/second grade at Izmir, Turkey from 1977 thru 1979.  In 1988, Marsha began a new career in Heidelberg, Germany as an antiques dealer.  Marsha and family moved to Maysville, Ky. in 1992, where Lt. Colonel Jones began his new job as Chief Finance Officer at Maysville Community and Technical College. In 1999 Marsha opened her own antiques and gift shop in Old Washington, which she maintained for the next 13 years.

Marsha was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was active in many community organizations over the years.  While in the military, she was a volunteer in the Army Community Service Division for numerous years, and served as secretary of the Army Officers Wives Club in Washington, DC.  She served as President and Secretary of Old Washington, Inc. and coordinated 3 festivals in Washington from 2000 to 2010.  Marsha served as an officer of the American Assoc. of University Women, of Limestone Chapter DAR, President and Charter member of Limestone Landing Garden Club, and treasurer of the Washington Lions Club.

Marsha is survived by her husband of  45 years, George Andrew Jones; two sons, Mark of Lexington, Ky. and Ben of Maysville; and her siblings Amanda Womack, Peggy (Ricky) Gray, and Frazee Hart. Preceding her in death were her parents, Marshall and Marguerite Hart of Flemingsburg, her grandparents Downing and Maud Williams of Elizaville, and Arnold and Lela Hart of Flemingsburg.

The Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville is serving the family. Visitation is 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday  February 15, 2019 and funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 16,  2019 in the chapel of the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the Fleming County Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Jones, Ben Jones, Gaines Womack, Whitt Gray, Richie Gray, Austin Hart, Alec Hart and Roger Owens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Maysville or the Flemingsburg Christian Church.
