Dorothy Jean Allen

Dorothy Jean Sams Allen, 80, of Ewing, Kentucky passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at her residence. 

She was born March 19, 1943 in Nicholas County, Kentucky to the late Walter Sams and Mary Coleman Sams. 

Dorothy retired from Jockey International after more than 30 years. She attended the Ewing Christian Church and the Ewing Baptist Church. Dorothy enjoyed making crafts, sewing, painting and her love for kids. Her family and grandchilren and great grandchildren meant the world to her. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rocky Allen; two sisters, Marion "Nan" Graves and Reva Nickerson. 

Survivors include one son, Dwight Allen and wife Connie of Ewing; one daughter, Lisa Gulley of Paris, Kentucky; one brother. Charles Sams of Sharpsburg, Kentucky; two sisters, Frances Dunn and husband Joe of Carlisle, Kentucky and Margaret Hatton also of Carlisle. Nine grandchildren, Brian Allen, Adam Allen, Amber Mynear, Ashely Mynear, Missy Linville, Stephanie Gulley, Eric Gulley, Cody Gulley, and Brittany Gulley Silvey. Several other relatives and friends. 

A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon on Saturday June 3, 2023 in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home with Brother Greg Grimes officiating. 

Visitiation is after 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.
