James Houston Meade, 77 of Fairview, Kentucky passed away Friday evening February 11, 2022, at the University of Kentucky, Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born April 7, 1944, in Kings Creek, Kentucky to the late Luther Houston Meade and Juanita Berry Zapf.
James was a heavy equipment operator and owned and operated Meade Excavating. He was a private pilot, and enjoyed NASCAR, Car Racing, Go Cart Racing, hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He had also worked for some time as a coal miner. He attended the Victory Baptist Church in Flemingsburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister Anna Sue Meade.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Jones Meade, two sons, Johnny (Debra Watson) Meade of Fairview and Jimmy (Ada Stacy) Meade of Ewing, Kentucky. One daughter, Connie (Kenney Sledd) Wilson of Paris, Kentucky. Two God daughters, Savannah Gilbert and Heaven Gilbert. One brother, Terry Meade of Whitesburg, Kentucky and four sisters, Wilma (Barry) O'Connor of Kalispell, Montana, Sandra (Don) Buerkle of West Harrison, Indiana, Cindy (Guy) Discepoli of Cincinnati, Ohio and Diane Levinson of Marblehead, Massachusetts.
Seven grandchildren, Jeremy Meade, Brooke Meade Sparks, Tyler Barnett, Chandra Barnett, Cody Barnett, Shelby Meade and Natalie Meade. Two great-grandchildren, Easton Barnett and Madilyn Meade,
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, February 17, 2022, in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville, Kentucky with Pastor Shawn Meade officiating.
Burial will follow in the Meade Family Cemetery.
Visitation at the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville is after 6:00 pm Wednesday.
Pall bearers will be Jimmy Meade, Johnny Meade, Tyler Barnett, Cody Barnett, Jeremy Meade, Tracy Welch, Brent Sparks and Kenney Sledd.
Serving as Honorary Pall Bearers will be Connie Wilson, Brooke Sparks, Chandra Barnett, Shelby Meade and Natalie Meade.
In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Lexington Medical Center. www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org
