Johnny Allen Jolly was born on April 19, 1954, in Cowan, Kentucky. He passed away peacefully at his residence on July 7, 2026, at the age of 72. Johnny’s life was woven with dedication to his family and marked by resilience and a quiet strength that defined his character throughout the years.
Johnny grew up in Cowan and was the beloved son of Donald Jolly and Norma Louise Mynear Jolly, both of whom preceded him in death. The legacy of his parents was seen in Johnny’s steadfast work ethic and his enduring kind-heartedness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Donnie Ray Bretz, two aunts, Gertrude McGuire and Elizabeth Mynear.
Johnny was a retired research assistant at the University of Kentucky.
He loved taking care of his cats and was known as "Cat Daddy".
He was a graduate of Fleming County High School and enjoyed playing and listening to Bluegrass Music. A talented musician he played several instruments including the guitar, banjo, mandolin and keyboard. He was well known in the area as a talented musician.
He is survived by several cherished family members who include his sister, Loretta Kay Bretz of Moorefield, Kentucky: two aunts, Mildred Gifford of Carlisle, Kentucky and Irene Mynear of Cynthiana. Also, One niece, Julie Kerr and her husband (Tony) of Moorefield, a great niece, Leah Kerr and Bentley Kerr.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 P.M.
Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.
