Nelma Jane Spencer

Nelma Jane Spencer of Flemingsburg, age 87, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2023 at Baptist Health Hospital Lexington, Kentucky.  She was born August 4, 1935 in Flemingsburg, to Arlie and Ethel Hunt and attended Fleming County High School.

Nelma was preceded in death by her parents, sister Wanetah Hunt Newsom of Flemingsburg, ex-husband Boyd Spencer of West Milton, Ohio, daughter Diana Spencer Fulton of West Milton, Ohio and son Steve Spencer of Carlisle, Kentucky.

She is survived by her children James (Kim) Spencer of Orient, Ohio, Darryl Spencer of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dana Spencer of Huber Heights, Ohio and Martin Spencer of West Milton, Ohio; son-in-law, Rob Fulton of West Milton, Ohio; grandchildren Lori Spencer of Eaton, Ohio, Mandy Spencer of Miamisburg, Ohio, Steve Spencer Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joel (Elizabeth) Spencer of Las Vegas, Nevada, Christopher (Lindsey) Fulton of West Milton, Ohio, Ashley (Andrew) Schenck of West Milton, Ohio; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Garnett Spencer of Tilton, Kentucky; 2 nieces and 3 nephews. She is also survived by her loving companion dogs Maggie and Suzie which were the last children she ever raised.

Nelma was blessed by having her only daughter born on her birthday and cherished a very close relationship throughout their lives. She was an avid fan of Country music and idolized Loretta Lynn who wrote and sang the songs that were close to her heart. Along with collecting music over the years she would always tune the television to her favorite Country music programs.  She also enjoyed sprucing up the exterior of her home with seasonal flowers. The family is grateful to the many years of care and assistance provided by her neighbor and friend Roger Staggs.

Services are being conducted by Price Brothers Funeral Home, 5197 Elizaville Road, Elizaville, Kentucky on Saturday March 4, 2023.

The family invites friends for Visitation inside the chapel from noon – 2 PM.  Funeral service will begin at 2 PM with Pastor Robbie Shrout officiating.

Burial will follow at Elizaville Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Jim Spencer, Darryl Spencer, Andrew Schenck, Christopher Fulton, Carson Fulton and Roger Staggs.
