Norma Jane Purcell Ruark, 91 of Ewing, Kentucky passed away Thursday May 18, 2023 at the Robertson County Health Care Facility in Mt. Olivet, Kentucky.
She was born January 8, 1932 in Maysville, Kentucky to the late Herman Purcell and Hattie Mae Leet Purcell.
Norma was known by many children in the Ewing community as she enjoyed babysitting over one hundred children through the years, most refering to her as "Mamaw". She enjoyed sewing, quilting, traveling, cook delicious meals for her family, canning, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Norma was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church for many years, holding several roles as sunday school teacher, janitor, treasurer and many more. Her church meant so much to her along with her church family who held a special place in Norma's heart. She was also a member of the Red Hatters, Tops, and the homemakers club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Ruark whom she married on December 18, 1948; one son, Barry Ruark; three sisters, Louise Biddle, Ruth Givogre and Minnie Cooper. One daughter-in-law, Debbie Ruark.
Survivors include her two children, Johnny Ruark and wife Molly and Roger Ruark and wife Carolyn both of Ewing; Four grandchildren, Sylvia Hunt and Husband Kenny, Kyle Ruark and wife Kayla, Travis Ruark and wife Lindsey and Cody Ruark. great-grandchildren, Nate Ruark, Ty Hawkins, Kaiden Ruark, Eli Ruark, Carson Madden, Payton Madden, Katy Madden, Noah Ruark, Brailee Dunaway, Alayna Ruark, Bailey Johnson, Riley Johnson, Kiley Johnson and Bentley Hodgkin; Several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A celebration of Norma's life will take place at 2:00 P.M. Monday May 22, 2023 in the santucary of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Grimes officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery at Mt. Tabor.
Family will welcome friends and guest for visitation after 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
Casket Bearers will be, Travis Ruark, Cody Ruark, Kyle Ruark, Nate Ruark, Ty Hawkins, Eli Ruark, and Carson Madden.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in memory of Norma.
All arrangements for Norma Jane Purcell Ruark and family are under the care and direction of the Price Brothers Funeral Home, 5197 Elizaville Road, Ewing, Kentucky 41039.
