Roy Eldon Overbey, Jr. 82 of Ewing, Kentucky passed away Friday, September 5, 2025, at his home after an extended illness.

He was born September 11, 1942, in Fleming County, Kentucky to the late Roy Eldon Overbey, Sr. and Naomi Ritchie Overbey.

Roy retired from Randall/Textron in Flemingsburg where he worked in tool and die. He attended the Mt. Tabor Church and was an avid outdoors man where he enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed Coon hunting and was well known for raising champion coon hounds. He was a UK basketball fan, baseball fan and was always ready for a game of horseshoes. He was a pocketknife collector and also worked "sighting-in" guns for people.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Ray and Pearl Ritchie. Uncles, John Ritchie and Guy Overbey. One sister, Patricia Bussell, Daughter-in-law, Nancy Overbey and close friend and cousin, J. B. Overbey.

Survivors in clude his wife, Mary Alice Spurlock Overbey whom he married, July 14, 1962.  His children: Jeffrey Overbey of Flemingsburg, Sherri Miller of Ewing, Timmy Overbey of Muses Mill, Kentucky, Jimmy (Amanda Harvey) Overbey of Ewing, Jackie (Carol Ann) Overbey all of Ewing, Michael Overbey of Morehead, Kentucky, and Amanda (Perry) Holser of Milford, Ohio. One sister, Sandra Jean Harding of Elizaville, Kentucky. One aunt, Ruby Overbey of Ewing, close friend, Vincent Price of Ewing, 14 grandchildren and 32 great and great-great grandchildren.

Also, several other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the Mt. Tabor Church, 1187 Mt. Tabor Road, Ewing with Rev. Greg Grimes and Rev. Gene Benton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery

Pall bearers will be family and friends.

Visitation at the Mt. Tabor Church is after 5:00 P.M. Monday.

Contributions are suggested to the Mt. Tabor Church.
