Roy Howard Payne, 94, of Energy Road in Ewing, Kentucky passed this world to meet his maker on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born on Mt. Tabor Road in Ewing, Kentucky on April 14, 1929 a son of the late Arnold Payne and Betty Richie Payne.
He was a farmer for many years, even as a child. After leaving the farm life, he worked at many different public jobs including the manager of the Fox Valley Recreational Park and Jockey International in Carlisle, Kentucky.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He made several fishing trips to Canada with his family and friends.
He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Mt. Tabor Methodist Church on Mt. Tabor Road in Fleming County. It was there he met and married the love of his life, the pastor's daughter, Anna Belle Godbey. They were married for 75 years and had three children: Cathy (Charlie) Earlywine of Loudon, Tennessee, Karen (Don) Overley of Ewing and Roy (Pamela) Payne of Augusta, Kentucky. He had 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great- grandchildren. He will also be missed by his beloved canine companion, Sadie.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by 3 siblings. Two sisters, Wanda Leet, Sue Lester and one brother, AD Payne. he was also preceded by a step grandson, Gregory Carl.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 4, 2023 in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home with Brother Layne Wagner and Brother Kevin Watson officiating.
Roy will be laid to rest in the Fleming County Cemetery.
Visitation is after 12 noon until the hour of service.
Casket bearers will be Lance Earlywine, Talon Earlywine, Darin Payne, Campbell Johnson, Brandon Overley, Braydon Overley, Garon Overley and Jack Overley.
Memorial contributions are sugged to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital or a charity of choice in Roy's honor.
All arrangements for Roy Howard Payne and family are under the care and direction of the Price Brothers Funeral Home, 5197 Elizaville Road, Ewing, Kentucky 41039.
