Obituary

Sue Tumey, 75 of the Fairview community passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 9 at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville, Kentucky with her niece Stephanie by her side. 

Sue was born in Fleming County on Saturday, October 21, 1950 to the late Arthur "PI" Tumey and Alice B. Hartley Tumey.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother David Franklin.

Sue was a proud retiree of Jockey International in Carlisle, Kentucky. She began working for Jockey sewing plant at the age of eighteen and remained there until its closure, thirty plus years. The last several years she worked at the Ewing Handi-Mart.

She is survived by her siblings Geneva (Estill) Helphenstine, Barry (Vicki) Tumey, William "Bob" Tumey (Whom she served as caregiver for the last fourteen years) all of Ewing, Kentucky; Donna (Jeff) Bowles of Sharpsburg, Kentucky. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews most of whom she lent a hand in raising alongside our wonderful mamaw and parents, It took a village. Two special caregivers for the past few years, Kristy Welch and Stephanie Willoughby.

Sue was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, she enjoyed going to horseshows, dancing, and sitting under the shade tree in her swing watching the traffic pass by. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 14, 2026 in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Grimes officiating.

Sue will be laid to rest next to her mother in the Elizaville Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday evening May 13, 2026 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM.

Casket bearers will be Kenny Arnett, Brad Willoughby, Cameron Cser, Tyler Willoughby, Estill Helphenstine, and Ryan Welch.

Honorary casket bearers will be Barry Tumey, William "Bob" Tumey, Tony Helphenstine, and Wyatt Welch.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hope in Maysville

All arrangements for Sue Tumey and family are under the care and direction of the Price Brothers Funeral Home, 5197 Elizaville Road, Ewing, Kentucky 41039.
