Thelma "Nig" Damron Kerns, 83, of Ewing, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was born December 2, 1940 in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late George W. Damron and Myrtle Marrs.
Nig was a stay at home caregiver who took care of her siblings, her children, grandchildren, and the neighbors' children. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 1834 VFW Franklin Sousley, where she served as the Ladies Auxiliary President and also served as the District Ladies Auxiliary President. She was also a member of the Hilltop Christian Church, where she was also very active having served on the church board.
Survivors include her children which includes four sons, Tony (Kim) Jones, Timmy (Lisa) Jones, Jerry Jones and Jason Kerns and one daughter, Jessica (Steve) McFarland; eleven grandchildren, Derrick (Carmen) Jones, Sara (David) Razor, Malleri (Shae) Henderson, Devin Jones (Michaleh), Jennifer (Daniel) Jackson, Axle Jones (Kristie), Casey Jones, Brook Damron, Katie Damron, Laruren McFarland (Henrey) and Allison (CJ) Wright; twenty-three great-grandchildren, Audrey Jones, Gretta Jones, Camila Jones, Alejandro Jones, Hayden Gray, Alex Gray, Rosalee Calhoun, Bowen Henderson, Coy Henderson, Jarrod Jolly, Brynlee Jackson, Kase Jackson, Oaklee Jackson, Joenas Jones, Destiny Jones, Shaun Jones, Arabella Jones, Kaison Jones, Nova Jones, Brenndon Damron, ZaireKade Hamm, Damien Lewis and Mercedes Lewis; three brothers, Roy (Susie) Damron, Larry (LaVonne) Damron and Ricky (Cecilia) Marrs; three sisters, Linda Brewer, Sue (Dale) Ison and Pauline (Winfrey) Conley, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Kerns; one son, Randy Damron; a great-grandchild, Maverick Jones Calhoun; daughter-in-law, Tammy Jones; one brother, Billy Ray Damron; one sister, Sharon Kay Damron and two brothers-in-law, Larry Brewer and James McKenzie.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville with Brother James Hickerson officiating.
Nig will be laid to rest in the Elizaville Cemetery.
Visitation is after 12 Noon until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dean Wallingford, Johnny Wallingford, Danny Moran, Dewayne France, Ronnie Hamilton, Aaron Hylander, Ron Whiseman and Allen McFarland.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cancer Care Club, P. O. Box 189, Flemingsburg, Kentucky 41041.
