Walter Lake Throckmorton, 94, of Cowan, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at his home.
He was born on November 29, 1926, a son of the late Henry and Oacie Teal Throckmorton.
W. L. or “Pops” as he was known to his family and friends was retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky and Farmers Mutual Insurance in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. He would always tell everyone that he had been halfway around the world and back.
W. L. was a member of the Cowan Christian Church and he loved farming, going to the stockyards with his grandchildren and telling stories about his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Throckmorton, a niece, Janice Throckmorton, a son, John Throckmorton, a granddaughter, Erika Dale, a son-in-law, Ricky Dale and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Shields.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mildred Watkins Throckmorton, one daughter, Darlene Dale, one son, Ricky Throckmorton, two step-sons, Chris Jolly (Maria) and Mike Jolly, several grandchildren, Ricky L. Jolly, Alva Shields, Jessica Hunt, Jordan Morris, Chris Sapp, Cassie Jolly, Lucas Jolly, Londa Feeback and Jeremy Feeback, several great-grandchildren, Cambree Jolly, Ivy Jolly, Madison Jolly, Taccoa Fryman, Shelby Shields, Katie Shields, Johna Shields and MaKayla Shields, Hannah McCall, Kenley Feeback, Raleigh Feeback, Waylan Feeback and Krysta Sapp, special nieces, Susie and Deloris and special friend, Kenny Lyons.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July14, 2021 in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville with Rev. Dean Brewer officiating.
Burial with full military honors by the W. N. Fant American Legion Post No. 5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post No. 1834 will be in the Elizaville Cemetery.
Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
