Teddy Hawkins

June 29, 1951 — July 27, 2020

Carlisle

Teddy Roger Hawkins, 69, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at the Johnson Mathers Nursing Home in Carlisle.

He was born on June 29, 1951 in Maysville, Kentucky, a son of the late Raymond Lee Hawkins and Marguerite Elizabeth Hunt Hawkins.

Teddy had been a mechanic.  He worked and trained at Doyle’s Auto in Flemingsburg and he was also employed by Woody’s Auto in Carlisle for many years.  He then ran his own garage before he was involved in a truck accident that left him disabled.  Even though the doctors gave up and said, “there was no way he could make it.”  Teddy fought with all he had to beat the head injury, many fractures, etc.  He managed to live in his own home and did all he could to care for himself, with help from his family for many years.

He was known for being “Mr. Fix it”.  Teddy knew how to fix about anything that was broken.  He was an avid fisherman.  He and his friends traveled to Destin, Florida and other parts and caught the “big ones”.  He loved these trips and enjoyed having cook outs where the neighbors could gather to enjoy the catch.

Teddy loved dogs and always had several.  He also loved horses and rode in many horse shows.  He especially loved his horse named Wanda.

He was married to Judy Hunter and they had several years of a good marriage before the accident.

Later in life, he became the father to a baby boy, Teddy Lee.  He was the joy of his life.  Teddy lost him when he was 18.  He was devastated and was then moved to the Johnson Mathers Nursing Home, where he lived out the remainder of his years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Teddy Lee Hawkins, special friend, Tony Price and nephew, Casey Shane Seithers.

Survivors include his sister, Peggy Hawkins Seithers and his nephews, Marty Ray (Kay) Seither and Michael Phillip Seither all of Paris, Kentucky.

Private family services will be conducted.

Teddy will be laid to rest next to his beloved Teddy Lee in the Elizaville Cemetery.

There is no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Johnson-Mathers Health Care, 2323 Concrete Road, Carlisle, Kentucky  40311.
